Racing around the world for America

Around the world... 33,000 iles racing against 43 yachts from 17 nations, including all major European countries, the USSR, Japan and New Zealand.  Ten women will be racing for the United States in the pioneering effort to capture the Whitbread Trophy and the world's imagination.

America's spirit will be carried around the globe for four continents, five countires and into the world's press, as we race through the Southern Ocean, the Roaring Forties anda the Howling Fifties.  Nancy Frank

The U.S. Women's Challenge prepared to race a 57 foot state-of-the-art racer built to win the Whitbread Round the World Race.  Ten accomplished, professional women comprise its crew with 190 years of sailing expertise a commitment and years of determination to make this Whitbread race a reality for themselves and a beacon for the American spirit endurance competition.
